Rahim (pronounced rah . heem) is the lone adult at Thridein, the Xa ruin that serves as the hideout and school for sorcerous children fleeing the crushing of the Mind Rebellion. He is blind in one eye and bears three great scars on his face. While he has never spoke about this deformity, many speculate that he narrowly avoided having his brain torn from his head during the Mind Rebellion. Rahim has never spoken of it and no student has plucked up enough courage to ask.
Rahim’s true age is unknown. The students believe him to be in his mid to late 40’s, though the trials he has undergone make him seem older at times. He works almost exclusively with the older students and espouses a philosophy that allows students to develop their magical talents at their own pace. He brooks no foolishness with this task, however, and actively discourages the teaching of frivolous material. While he desires all students to find their own path magically, he insists that everyone receive a basic education in The Coming and in the skills and knowledge to survive on their own. He makes it very clear that he expects his students to eventually free Telara from the mindflayer’s control.
Rahim is a practiced spellcaster with a penchant for spells involving deception and nature, a talent that is extremely useful in keeping the location of the school a secret.
