Thridein (pronounced three . day . een) is a Xa ruin located in the forests northwest of Qaet in northern Telara. It is notable because these ruins serve as one of the final bastions of resistance against the mindflayers and their slaves. Thridein serves as a school and training facility for the few children lucky enough to escape the Mind Rebellion. The students here were typically smuggled to the ruin by parents that sensed their child’s growing magical talent. Most arrived about the age of 5 or 6 though a few were even born on the premises. While loathe to leave their children in the care of the mysterious sorcerer that lived there, the parents knew that Thridein would at least provide their child a chance at life.
At the outset of the campaign, Thridein is home to 38 children and young adults between the ages of 5 and 18. The younger students are overseen by the older students and Rahim, the lone adult. The characters are some of the oldest students, having been some of the first children left at the school.
